The Hand Held Products ScanTeam 5400/B products provide a unique Welch Allyn identity in the new mid-range depth of field "Standard Performance" category of laser scanners.

The ST5400 provides value and durability in an ergonomically designed enclosure. The ST5400 series is available with Welch Allyn 's Instant Interface Module, integrating bar code decoding and interfacing in the scanner. They is also available in non-decoded output for connection to an external decoder.

The Instant Interface Module of the ST5400 provides aggressive bar code decoding, advanced data editing and formatting capabilities, and a wide range of host connectivity. All Instant Interface firmware is stored in FLASH memory on the ST-5400 which may be reprogrammed in the field by cloning from one unit to another, or by downloading from Welch Allyn 's PC-based software tools.

Interfaces for the ScanTeam 5400 include a wide range of keyboard wedges, serial RS-232, wand emulation, and proprietary direct connect to POS devices, such as NCR OCIA, IBM 5B/9B/17, and IBM/Fujitsu OCR.
