GCI VP4i
The Granite Communications VP4i is a hand-held personal communications unit featuring Driver's Assistant VideoPad system. The VideoPad system uses a spread-spectrum radio to communicate with a host computer. Spread-spectrum radio frequency (RF) transmission allows many units to operate simultaneously in close proximity and features fast transmission speeds.
The 4i system features hand-held, easy-to-use, touch-screen devices that communicate to host computers via Granite 's networking system. The pen-based networking system allows data to be transmitted to a computer via radio technology.
The Granite VP4i comes with RS-232 hookup and includes a bar code reader and menu-driven control with prompts for two-way data communications.
This item was remarketed by IBM as part of their mobile tacking solution called "TrackTell".
