Symbol RFM-3010

The Symbol RFM-3010 Radio Frequency Modem enables third party RS-232 devices to become nodes on the Spectrum One® network. It eliminates the need for multiple radio frequency networks to support multiple vendors' RF products by providing wireless connectivity to any RS-232 device.

Warehouse personnel can use it to connect remote scanners to the network for distributed data collection.

With it's multiple communication ports and PC programmability, the Symbol RFM 3010 opens a wide range of possibilities for Spectrum One® users. In a supermarket, it can connect a remote scale with the host price data base. Connecting it to the serial port of a cash register provides wireless POS functionality for non-PC based registers. Manufacturers can connect the device to automated machinery and eliminate the crowding and danger of clustered wires.

The Symbol RFM3010 is based on Symbol's Series 3000 of data collection terminals including the PDT 3110, PRC 3310 and LRT 3800. The RFM 3010 can be programmed using Microsoft C and the Series 3000 Application Development Kit (ADK). The RFM 3010 provides one RS-232/RS-422 port, one additional RS-232 port, bar code scanner port, 256K NVM, 512K RAM, status LEDs and limited keyboard. AC or NiCd battery powered, it can be used in both portable and fixed station applications.
